Whole and Quarter Goal Lines: Push, Half-Win and Half-Loss

Compare over 2.0, 2.25 and 2.5 with explicit settlement tables and worked examples in Tanzanian shillings.

Define the market before reading the line

A goal total counts qualifying goals in the period named on the slip. This article uses a hypothetical completed regulation-time football market, decimal odds of 2.00 and an ordinary TZS 10,000 cash stake. It excludes deductions, promotions and interrupted-match rules. Check the actual period and terms before applying any example.

A half-goal line cannot equal an integer goal count. A whole-number line can: the standard push convention used here returns the stake when the total lands exactly on the line. A quarter line splits the stake equally across the adjacent whole and half lines.

Over 2.25 is two equal parts

Under that split convention, TZS 10,000 on over 2.25 becomes TZS 5,000 on over 2.0 and TZS 5,000 on over 2.5 at the quoted price. It is not a prediction of a fractional goal. The quarter expresses how the stake is divided for settlement.

At exactly two goals, over 2.0 pushes while over 2.5 loses. Half the quarter-line stake is returned and half is lost: gross return TZS 5,000, net result −TZS 5,000. This is a half-loss.

Under 2.25 at exactly two goals

Now split the same TZS 10,000 stake between under 2.0 and under 2.5. At exactly two goals, the whole-number half pushes and the half-goal half wins. At odds 2.00, TZS 5,000 is refunded and the winning half returns TZS 10,000. Total gross return is TZS 15,000; net profit is TZS 5,000.

This is a half-win, not a return of half the stake. Half refers to the portion that wins, while the other portion is returned. At different odds, the amount of profit changes even though the settlement label remains half-win.

The price still matters

At odds of 1.80, a winning TZS 5,000 half returns TZS 9,000. Combine that with a TZS 5,000 pushed half and the total is TZS 14,000, giving TZS 4,000 net profit. Always multiply the winning portion by its decimal price and then add any refunded portion.

A .75 line uses the same approach with a different pair. Over 2.75 splits into over 2.5 and over 3.0. At exactly three goals, the first half wins and the second pushes. Write the two lines down before attempting mental arithmetic.

Compare identical periods and lines

Over 2.0 and over 2.5 are different contracts. A higher decimal price on one is not automatically a better price for the other because the treatment of exactly two goals differs. The same caution applies to regulation time versus a market including extra time.

In-play totals may use a full-match count or another specified period. The score visible when the stake is accepted does not replace the market definition. Keep the accepted wording, line and price together in your record.

A three-step calculation

First identify the two component lines, if the line is split. Next settle each portion under the stated goal count and period. Finally add gross returns and subtract the original total stake once to find the net result. The odds converter explains price formats; it does not itself settle Asian totals or determine the goals included.
