Formula and worked example

For positive American odds: decimal = 1 + American / 100. For negative American odds: decimal = 1 + 100 / absolute American odds.

A decimal price of 2.10 is equivalent to 11/10 fractional odds or +110 American odds. Its implied probability is about 47.619%. A winning TZS 1,000 single would return TZS 2,100 including the stake, before any applicable deductions.

What the calculation means

Implied probability is derived from quoted odds, not an independent estimate of a sporting event’s actual probability.

Load an example, then select Calculate. These hypothetical inputs remain editable before calculation.

  • 2.50 = 3/2 = +150; implied probability 40%.

  • −200 = 1.50 = 1/2; implied probability about 66.67%.

  • 7/4 = 2.75 = +175; implied probability about 36.36%.

These are equivalent price formats, not three estimates of an event. The implied percentage comes from the quoted price; it does not establish the true chance. Round displayed percentages only after completing the calculation.
